The aim of the program is to provide assistance to families in need who have accumulated debt and whose housing situation has become at risk.

Through our Mentoring Program, we help families establish contact with authorities, service providers, and creditors. As part of our advisory services, we provide support with social administration procedures, including preparing applications for available assistance, developing debt management plans, and identifying other available resources and social support opportunities.

The mentoring program also provides guidance for everyday life management, with a particular focus on household budgeting, financial planning skills, and promoting responsible consumer habits.

Reducing housing-related debt burdens can only be achieved through effective participation in a structured debt management program, which helps families take sustainable steps towards financial stability.

There are also situations in which leaving the family home becomes unavoidable. In such cases, the Hungarian Reformed Church Aid’s Lifeline Program (Mentőöv) can provide essential support.

The program helps families whose relocation may create better and more stable living conditions—for example, when employment opportunities are available in another settlement, or when a child or family member with health needs can access regular medical treatment elsewhere. In these cases, moving can help reduce household expenses and increase income opportunities.

Through the Lifeline Program, based on prior cooperation and assessment of individual circumstances, we support families for whom the financial and practical challenges of relocation prevent them from creating a safer and more stable future. Our aim is to help remove these barriers and provide opportunities for families to improve their living conditions.
