Each year during the Advent season, the Hungarian Reformed Church Aid launches its Love Box Campaign (Szeretetdoboz). The aim of the initiative is to support families in need by collecting reusable donation boxes filled with non-perishable food, household cleaning products, and personal hygiene items. Every year, thousands of disadvantaged children and their families receive these donation boxes.
What is a Love Box?
The Love Box is an environmentally friendly, reusable donation box made from sustainable materials. It can be securely closed without adhesive tape, making it both practical and eco-friendly while helping those in need.
What can you put in a Love Box?
We welcome non-perishable food items with a minimum remaining shelf life of six months, such as:
- sugar
- cooking oil
- canned food
- flour
- cocoa powder
- tea
- spices
- sweets
- dried pasta
- biscuits
- ketchup
- mustard
- mayonnaise
We also gratefully accept personal hygiene and household cleaning products, including:
- laundry detergent
- fabric softener
- toothpaste
- baby and adult diapers
- shampoo
- shower gel
We especially appreciate donations that take the needs of people with food intolerances into consideration. Sugar-free and gluten-free products—such as sweeteners, sugar-free biscuits, and gluten-free pasta—are greatly appreciated and help us provide suitable support for everyone.
