The Search and Rescue Team of the Hungarian Reformed Church Aid was established in March 2019.
The mission and objectives of the HRCA Search and Rescue Team include providing assistance to communities across the Carpathian Basin, participating in canine rescue operations and missing person searches, providing emergency and basic medical support at disaster sites, carrying out humanitarian activities, and operating as a volunteer intervention firefighting unit.
In 2019, our team successfully completed the qualification examination organized by the Hajdú-Bihar County Directorate for Disaster Management. As a result, we became members of the Debrecen District Rescue Team, which holds international INSARAG classification. Following this successful qualification, our team became authorized to provide technical rescue assistance during both domestic and international disasters.
Our team currently works with five search and rescue dogs, three of which are fully qualified, while two are undergoing training. The team consists of 16 members, all of whom hold firefighting qualifications and have professional knowledge in first aid and emergency medical care.
In recent years, our Search and Rescue Team has provided professional assistance at several natural disaster sites:
2021 – Czech Republic: tornado response
2023 – Türkiye: earthquake response
2023 – Morocco: earthquake response
2024 – Dunabogdány, Hungary: Danube flood response
