Voluntary Diaconal Year
One year abroad as a volunteer with language learning and service opportunities? One year during which you can get to know yourself better, your own limits and different cultures, our caring God as well. You can get a little pocket money, travel and experience it every day how you can help others. Take part in the program “Voluntary Diaconal Year”! The Voluntary Diaconal Year Program Office (ÖDE) began its work in 1997 addressing young people between 18-30 to do voluntary service in Hungary or abroad.
The Voluntary Diaconal Year is the officially acknowledged and accredited organization of the European Voluntary Service (EVS) so it grants a guaranteed quality. ÖDE undertakes the presentation of volunteering opportunities and its organization for young adults. It organizes training courses and seminars for those who are interested in being volunteers, and prepares them for voluntary services. Addressing disadvantaged and Gypsy youth in Budapest or rural areas plays an important role in their activities. ÖDE helps the Hungarian volunteers serving abroad and the foreigners visiting us to integrate into the local community, meet other young people, live community life and participate in leisure and cultural activities, and provides language courses for volunteers.
